Katherine Moore

April 2023

Katherine is a movement and teaching artist whose work spans theaters, outdoor environments, galleries, and community spaces.  Her work centers on movement experience as a site of individual and collective imagining, well-being, and play and she believes in the power of movement as a transformational force for humans and their relationships to the world.  Katherine’s residency work will develop a performance and installation of 100 Gestures of Survival, which documented 100 days of movement and writing following the end of my treatment for Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  The working title is “the space between landing and falling.”The work in the gallery will comprise a book of 100 improvisational movement scores/poems and an installation in which each of the 100 videos from my research are shown in the gallery on individual cell phone screens that are mounted to the walls. She will also develop a solo dance performance (approx. 20-30 minutes) to perform this work live in the installation

space.

Exhibition: May 3 - June 10, 2023.
