Ron Shelton is a multi-media artist living in Lakewood, Ohio. He has been practicing his craft with the unsustainable medium of plastic for the past three years. As the curator and publisher of a nonprofit online arts magazine, High Art Fridays (HAF),
www.highartfridays.com. he began seeing a commonality of artists across the planet working in this unsustainable medium.

 

This current work is making a bold statement of how this base material is finding its way, traversing through endless streams and ocean currents in gyres and beaches and waterways across the planet. Shelton collects plastic primarily from his own waste and other sources: laundry companies, community calls for plastic donations, and various other sources. He has mobilized community engagement by conducting virtual workshops on creating unique art from plastic waste.  His artistic exploration around this medium has been showcased in Northeast Ohio and Internationally:
