Althea Jones is a multidisciplinary artist based in Northeast Ohio, whose work centers on self-reflection and community building. Utilizing a diverse range of media, including painting, photography, and performance art, Althea creates narratives that encourage introspection and foster collective engagement.

Home is a quintessential piece embodying my connection to family and heritage. It represents the childhood experiences of generations of boys and girls born and raised during the 1900s in “the south”.

This piece gives dedicated focus to the little girl in her Sunday go to meeting. Her upward gaze embodies hope and possibility as she seems to stand in an open field represented abstractly with vibrant greens, yellows and whites.

In my heart, this little girl is my grandmother and my grandmother’s grandmother. She is the history and hope of a people.
