Dance and Film Collide: A look into the collaborative process

Join Akron Soul Train for a captivating conversation with dancer Elyse Morckel and filmmaker Denzel Washington as they delve into their collaborative journey in creating a dance film inspired by Elyse’s original trio piece, Void. Void originally premiered at the Sandefur Theatre in Akron, Ohio, in July 2023. Still, Elyse saw untapped layers in the work, sparking her partnership with Denzel to expand its narrative through film further. Together, they reimagined the piece, blending dance's fluidity with cinematic storytelling's dynamic potential.
