About the event
Akron Soul Train invites you to a special artist talk with Katie Butler, the exhibiting artist behind “Bread and Butter.” Butler's work explores financial disparities in American society, using scenes of everyday spaces and objects like barns, gingham tablecloths, and American flags as distant, small, and obscured backgrounds. In stark contrast, the foreground features large tables set with fine china, wine, and gourmet food, highlighting the income divide and the stark differences between the lives of average citizens and those in power.
Additionally, Akron Soul Train is hosting a food drive to support the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank. Most needed items include boxed cereal, canned soup, canned vegetables, canned tuna, macaroni and cheese, and peanut butter. For a detailed list of requested items, visit Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank.
