Recent Akron Soul Train artist-in-residence Crystal Miller explores the themes of Afrofuturism in her work, envisioning a world that embraces, uplifts and protects Black individuals. To deepen our understanding of Afrofuturism, Akron Soul Train invites you to a virtual presentation by writer and educator Isaiah Hunt, titled “The Future is in Color: Intro to Afrofuturism.” This engaging session will cover the history of the term, its representation in media, and its cultural impact.
A proud Cleveland native, Isaiah Hunt writes near-future stories centered on his community, the entertainment industry, and transhumanist capitalism. When he’s not experimenting with music or studying Pan-African history, he’s imagining worlds parallel to our own. His work has appeared in Luna Negra, On The Run, Black Moon Magazine, and more.
