Josh Maxwell is a Cleveland-based multimedia sculptor whose practice blends science, art, and community engagement. With a foundation in scientific illustration and sculpture from the Cleveland Institute of Art, Maxwell works primarily in stone and wood, often transforming natural materials into powerful symbols of ecological awareness. He is a certified tree steward through both the Old Brooklyn Community and the Western Reserve Land Conservancy, where he leads tree planting demonstrations and educational programs for residents. Maxwell’s professional practice includes significant public-facing projects and installations across Northeast Ohio, including rebranding work and community enhancements in Akron’s North Hill neighborhood and improvements to Waters Park. His work is rooted in the belief that creative practice is a tool for ecological stewardship, social consciousness, and collective healing.
